Who?
Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) — Task Force on Declassification of Federal Secrets
LISTEN: Laslo & Burlison
Ask a Pol asks:
After a week with your new congressional staffer David Grusch, we’re sensing more optimism from you and Secrets Task Force Chair Anna Paulina Luna than we’ve felt from the Congressional UAP Caucus in months, no?
Key Burlison:
“This is an exciting moment,” Rep. Eric Burlison exclusively tells Ask a Pol. “Look, we were at a place where we were kind of operating in the dark. We didn't even know where to go, right? And now we've got somebody that's turned on a flashlight — or that is bringing his flashlight.”

Grusch clearance stalled — but does it matter…?
“The Oversight [Committee] staff said it could take, like, two months, so we're gonna try to expedite that and make some phone calls and put pressure,” Burlison says. “He may not be able to directly tell us, but he can tell us where to go poke.”
Caught our ear:
“I think that everybody in the room recognizes that this was a good move by my team and me to bring him on,” Burlison says.

TRANSCRIPT: Rep. Eric Burlison
SCENE: Rep. Eric Burlison answers reporter’s questions on the then-stalled GOP budget — which passed the following day — and when he’s done, Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo proceeds to walk back to his office across the street with him.
Eric Burlison: “Today was a good day with the UAPs topics. We had David Grusch in town. We had meetings in the Oversight [Committee] with [Secrets Task Force Chair Anna Paulina] Luna.”
Matt Laslo: “She told me. Yeah?”
EB: “We had a lot of lot of ideas — good strategy that we're kind of formulating. Grusch is — I'm telling you, he is like a wellspring of insight into this, everything in this category, so..."
ML: "Oh, interesting. So it was a little bit illuminating?"
EB: “I think that everybody in the room recognizes that this was a good move by my team and me to bring him on."
ML: "Yeah? Well, no, it — umm, even talking with [Rep. Tim] Burchett earlier, he was like, ‘I don't know — what does he get paid?’ And I was like, ‘you know, he's part-time,’ but, you know, just because this is new…”
EB: “No. It’s coming out of my budget! It’s coming out of my budget!”
ML: "…but that's where, like, this is just different. So everyone's kind of talking about it.”
EB: “Yeah.”
ML: "I brought it up too [HPSCI Ranking Member Jim] Himes last week and he was like, ‘Really?’”
EB: “Yeah. I saw that. I saw that, yeah.”
Laslo laughs.
