The below is important context to keep in mind. Even as much of it doesn’t even mention UAPs, it’s the backdrop for the entire NDAA debate and negotiations.

The NDAA is purposefully impossible to fully explain. It’s filled with political landmines, politician’s pet projects and all centered around—on paper, at least—American soldiers.

Deemed a “must-pass” bill—Washington speak for: Party leaders expect to be able to ram it through, lard, backroom deals and all—the annual measure has become a catch-all for the military industrial complex over the decades.

But this year’s debate was different.
