I worked as a contractor in DC from 2005 through 2012. Having been involved in numerous projects across agencies and military branches I earned an on-the-job PhD in the federal government. How you stomach elected officials and their bloated egos is beyond me.

I worked with a really decent guy in DC who retired as CIO at the GAO in the early 2000s. We went to lunch one day and he recanted many political interactions he had had over his 40-year career. I asked him if he ever met one honest, decent elected official that America could trust. He didn't hesitate, "John Glenn." Of course, Glenn had retired then. Somehow I did not doubt him. Where are the John Glenns? Is there none of his caliber who can get elected?
Yeah, I want all who run for office to face background checks before either party accepts their checks to get on a ballot. I don't want to hear any of these yahoos speaking about background checks. Good grief.
I got my start as an entertainment / music reporter in Philly. Literally, putting up with asshole artists trained me to see through a-hole pols!
Citizen Cope ended an interview with me after 3 questions cause he was too shitfaced to form a full sentence. And an artist once asked me in his green room, a then-college junior:
“Got any coke?”
“No. But I have some weed.”
“Well what the fuck use are you to me then?”
An older Philly Inquirer reporter then expertly changed the subject. And later explained they didn’t even do coke anymore: They were just fucking with me.
