TRANSCRIPT: Rep. Anna Paulina Luna
SCENE: After voting on the House floor, Rep. Luna was surrounded by a swarm of congressional reporters who are covering her spat with Speaker Mike Johnson over whether to allow new mothers — as she was last year — to vote by proxy from their districts.
Once Luna finishes her impromptu scrum on the steps of the US Capitol, Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo slides in and gets a quick update from the congresswomen before she hops in an awaiting car.
Matt Laslo: “Hey, how are you, ma’am?”
Anna Paulina Luna: “Hey.”
ML: “I was curious what you make of the hiring of David Grusch? Do you think that’s gonna change things?”
APL: “I think he's great!”
What should we ask next? Let us know, fam!
ML: “Yeah?”
APL: “I think he — Burlison is, obviously he's on team with him, so I think that that's going to be solid.”
ML: “Do you know if he gets his security clearance back?”
APL: “Grusch is working — that would be a Burlison question, but we're working all avenues.”
Another reporter cuts in…
ML: “And are you still trying to get him into the SCIF with Lue Elizondo and AARO?”
APL: “Yes. We got that confirmed for some time in April.”
ML: “Some time in April? Cool. Preciate ya.”
Luna starts entering awaiting car.
APL: “And Christopher Mellon!”
ML: “And Mellon?”
Luna nods.
ML: “Thank you!”
