while i personally do not believe the aerial craft that have been flying over the garden state, and most recently into New York, are exotic in nature; frankly the american public does not know for certain what they are or who is behind these craft. apparently neither do the FBI, Homeland Security, Coast Guard or local law enforcement, and its the DOD's problem to down/collect these aerial craft (according to the FBI's Assistant Director of the Critical Incident Response Group, Robert Wheeler)
it is unclear to me how some of our elected officials can say "we do not know what they are, but we don't think they are a threat". That level of hand waving might work on the first night but its been weeks now and after watching today's hearing "Safeguarding the Homeland from Unmanned Aerial Systems" i'm not left with much more confidence than before the hearing began.
As for AARO's analysis of the NJ drones, we can probably save them some time and skip their analysis. So far AARO's assessment has been that our top Navy Pilots pilots flying our advanced fighter jets are confused by birds and parallax, i can only imagine what AARO's assessment of the unwashed masses' abilities to identify things in the sky.
thanks for digging in on this Matt.
